State Rep. Dawn White Introduces Resolution Supporting President Trump’s Border Wall

Murfreesboro, Tennessee (February 8, 2018) – State Representative Dawn White has introduced a resolution in the Tennessee General Assembly supporting President Trump’s proposal to construct a secure border wall across our nation’s southern border.  House Joint Resolution 741, which was filed last week, also encourages Congress to immediately take action to fund the construction of the border wall.

“America spoke loudly in 2016 with the election of President Trump and made it clear that our leaders in Washington need to take action to stop illegal immigration and secure our nation’s borders.  I proudly support President Trump and his plans to Make America Great Again, including the construction of a secure wall on our southern border,” said White.  “This resolution gives the General Assembly an opportunity to express support for President Trump’s proposal and to call on Congress to fund the border wall without delay.”

“I look forward to moving this resolution forward during the current legislative session.  Like many Americans, I was very proud of our President for his excellent State of the Union address last week.  It is time for Congress to take action to support our President and fund the construction of the border wall, and I think it is appropriate for our state legislature to do everything we can to encourage Congress to move this forward.”

Rep. White was recently invited by representatives of the Trump Administration to meet at the White House complex to discuss issues affecting state and local governments.  While attending the event hosted by the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Rep. White met with various representatives of the President’s administration and obtained important policy updates on issues that could impact the State of Tennessee.  Rep. White was also recently invited by the administration to hear President Trump deliver remarks to the American Farm Bureau Federation at its January convention in Nashville.

“I was honored to have the opportunity to hear President Trump speak in Nashville last month and to be invited to visit the White House complex to meet with representatives of the Trump Administration in December,” said White.  “I greatly appreciate this administration’s willingness to work with state and local officials and to keep us updated on important federal policy developments.”

Rep. White currently serves as State Representative for House District 37, which includes portions of Murfreesboro, Smyrna, La Vergne, Walter Hill and Leanna.  She is a member of the House Business and Utilities and Education Administration and Planning Committees.  She was elected by her colleagues to serve as the Caucus Secretary and Caucus Treasurer of the House Republican Caucus for the 110th General Assembly.
